About Us

Our Story

Agape Global Health for Haiti was founded in 2000 by Dr. Eno Mondesir. As a native of La Gonave, he saw firsthand the suffering of a community who faced a dire healthcare disparity without a way out. His dream was to get an education and to find a way to give back to his community. After migrating to the United States, he entered college, and after many starts and stops he graduated in 1990.

Summer of 2000: Eno organized his first mission trip with a few healthcare professionals and conducted a one-week ambulatory clinic. The early days were challenging but a cadre of like-minded people joined him and together, they fulfilled his dream, to provide healthcare and public health education in La Gonave. Over the years Agape has evolved. Originally a religious mission, it is today a secular nonprofit.

March of 2017: Agape Global Health for Haiti became a 501(c)(3) public charity.

July 2019: Agape established a permanent clinic, hired Haitian employees and expanded to focus on health care, menstrual health education, public health education and a water filtration program.

February 2023: Agape launched its first one-day mobile clinic to provide lifesaving medical services to neighboring communities with very little access to healthcare, who live too far away to travel to our permanent Agape Clinic. It’s a general clinic, open to all, with all medical conditions.
