Who We Are
Agape Global Health for Haiti is a non-profit, volunteer organization with a mission to help advance and promote the well being of the La Gonave community in Haiti. We provide direct medical care, public health education, water filtration kits and medical training.
We have a permanent clinic which opened in August 2017. Our local physician provides prenatal care and treats hypertension.
Where We Work
La Gonave is an island located off the coast of mainland Haiti, with approximately 87,000 people.
The people of La Gonave face tremendous medical and public health challenges including malnutrition, anemia, respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases, skin infections, wounds, cataracts, and dental disease.
There is only one hospital which is poorly staffed and therefore most people go without basic healthcare. The island also lacks clean water, sanitation, and regular electricity.
What We Do
During our annual trips, a team of clinicians and educators provides direct medical care, public health education ( general hygiene and disease prevention, and menstrual health), and distributes water filtration kits. Since our founding, we have conducted annual clinics treating 400-600 patients per visit.
